Translation camera on mobile phone

In this paper, we report a mobile application which translates Japanese texts in a scene into English. The application is designed to run on a mobile phone with a camera. It recognizes Japanese characters sensed by an onboard camera of a mobile phone and translates them into English.

Confirmed Language Resource for Answering How Type Questions Developed by Using Mails Posted to a Mailing List

In this paper, we report a Japanese language resource for answering how-type questions. It was developed it by using mails posted to a mailing list. We show a QA system based on this language resource.

Discourse Structure Analysis for News Video

Various kinds of video recordings have discourse structures. Therefore, it is important to determine how video segments are combined and what kind of coherence relations they are connected with. In this paper, we propose a method for estimating the discourse structure of video news reports by analyzing the discourse structure of their transcripts.
